The short answer
Start with Omnisend for another ecommerce-focused workflow, Brevo for a different sending-cost model, and Drip or ActiveCampaign for an automation-led comparison. Mailchimp is also worth checking for a broader marketing setup. None is automatically cheaper at every audience size.
A Klaviyo alternative should solve a defined problem: rising cost, difficult workflows, missing capabilities, or a team that cannot use what it pays for. Switching tools without naming that problem often just moves the same work into a new interface.
Before evaluating replacements, record billable profiles, campaign sends, triggered messages, SMS usage, and the flows that generate meaningful results. Compare the same workload across providers. An entry-level headline is not a quote for your account.

The shortlist, explained
These recommendations describe fit for the task. They are not measured performance scores.
An ecommerce-focused replacement trial
Omnisend
Omnisend is a logical candidate when you want to keep a store-oriented workflow. Rebuild one important flow and test it against actual store events. Evaluate the price at your present list size and the next growth step, not only the free tier.
Check before choosing: Contact storage and the number of people you can send to are different limits.
A sending-volume-led comparison
Brevo
Brevo offers a different starting cost structure. It is worth modeling when your stored audience and sending cadence do not move together. Check the ecommerce data and automation you need before assuming a lower sending bill makes it a like-for-like substitute.
Check before choosing: Daily sending caps can prevent a whole-list campaign from going out at once.
A focused email-automation evaluation
Drip
Consider Drip when the team wants a focused email workflow. Rebuild the segment conditions and exclusions from your most important existing campaign. Test the details rather than assuming every event or filter maps directly.
Check before choosing: Budget migration time and verify current integration behavior.
A wider automation requirement
ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign is worth evaluating when automation extends beyond straightforward storefront campaigns. Confirm the chosen plan supports your required branching and actions. Paying for a broad platform makes sense only if someone will operate those workflows.
Check before choosing: Entry-tier automation limits may require an upgrade.
A broader marketing program
Mailchimp
Mailchimp can be a candidate when ecommerce email is one part of a wider marketing workflow. Test the store integration and the exact automation you depend on. A familiar brand name does not guarantee the needed feature exists on the cheapest plan.
Check before choosing: Separate promotional pricing, trial access, and ongoing plan limits.
- 1Price the same workload
- 2Rebuild one important flow
- 3Migrate consent and exclusions
Model three audience sizes
Price today’s audience, a plausible six-month audience, and a larger case. Keep send frequency consistent. Include triggered messages and any separately billed channels. Record whether unsubscribed or inactive records affect the provider’s billing definition.
An illustrative 2,000-person list receiving four campaigns generates 8,000 campaign sends before welcome messages and other flows. A provider’s 5,000-send allowance would not cover that schedule, even if its contact limit did. Use your own figures in the same calculation.
Move consent and exclusions with the list
A migration is more than an email-address export. Preserve subscription status, suppression records, and the fields that control segmentation. Do not re-subscribe people who opted out when recreating an audience in the new platform.
Keep the original system available while you validate a small test segment. Check one new signup, one unsubscribe, and the key order-triggered events. Then ensure only one provider sends each automated message during the transition.
- Map custom fields and segment rules.
- Preserve opt-outs and suppressed addresses.
- Authenticate the new sending setup.
- Test important flows before moving the full schedule.
When staying is the better choice
If the current program works and the savings are small, migration effort may outweigh the benefit. Audit inactive automations, unnecessary features, and list management first. A replacement is most compelling when it removes a persistent cost or operating constraint.
Ask the person who runs email to participate in the trial. Ease of use depends on the real operator, not only on a screenshot of the campaign builder.
Decide whether the move is worth the work
Create a migration inventory before comparing the bill: active journeys, forms, integrations, custom fields, exclusions, and the people who maintain them. Estimate the hours needed to reproduce the important behavior, including a test signup and unsubscribe.
Use a simple illustrative payback check. If a move costs $240 in labor and saves $20 each month, subscription savings alone take 12 months to recover that labor. A better workflow could still justify the move, but name that benefit separately rather than hiding the migration cost.
For a first email platform, there may be little migration work. For an established store, a small price difference may not justify changing a system the team understands. Compare your stage of business as well as your list size.
Our recommendation
Make the choice fit your business.
Choose a Klaviyo alternative after comparing your actual audience and proving the migration path. A cheaper entry tier is useful only when the replacement still does the job.
